Open Letter: European Industry Calls for Strong Commitment to Sovereign Digital Infrastructure

Open Source technology holds many of the answers to the questions the demand for more sovereign digital infrastructure raises. European Open Source businesses are here to provide resilient alternatives to the services and products by incumbent providers. However, in order to build capacity and capability, the European Commission needs to send more than clear signals, and contribute to stimulating demand for digital solutions produced in Europe.

In order to increase resilience and reduce vulnerability, whether in the context of international trade or cyber security, requires decisive action. Open Source businesses are ready to take the lead in Europe’s transition to decreasing dependencies, incrasing control and insight into the technology we rely on.
